Network Charter

Preamble

The French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) alumni network, Planète IRD+, is a space dedicated to former collaborators, doctoral students, researchers, engineers and research support staff who share a professional experience or partnership with the IRD and partners of the institute. This dynamic, collaborative network aims to maintain links between its members, encourage scientific and professional exchanges, and promote IRD's values and missions.

This charter defines the rules for using the platform to ensure an inclusive, respectful and secure environment. By using "Planète IRD+", each member undertakes to respect these principles.

This network brings together alumni, researchers, engineers and research support staff who share a professional experience or partnership with IRD.

The term "alumni" here refers to former and current members of IRD support or training schemes. They include :

  • Allocations de Recherche pour une Thèse au Sud (ARTS) program,
  • Former beneficiaries of scholarship or PhD support programs: e.g. Bourses d'Echanges Scientifiques et Technologiques (BEST), ACE-Partner, Program of Excellence for Education and Research in South countries (PEERS), Programme Cycle de l'Eau et Changement Climatique (CECC), other programs
  • Members and coordinators of the Jeunes Équipes Associées à l'IRD (JEAI) (Young IRD Associate Teams)
  • Members and sponsors of Laboratoires Mixtes Internationaux (LMI)
  • Nominees of Trophées de l'innovation
  • Co-sponsors of Structuring Training Projects (PSF)
  • Members of the Strategic Orientation Committee and Scientific Council

 


1. Objectives and Values of Planète IRD+ Alumni Network

The Planète IRD+ platform and the alumni network it forms aim to :

  • Strengthen links between former members of training programs or beneficiaries of training support programs, and maintain links with IRD's scientific communities.
  • Provide access to a directory of international contacts.
  • Provide a forum for the exchange of academic and scientific information.
  • Facilitate networking and scientific and professional opportunities.
  • Enable each member to share his or her career path, experiences and projects.
  • Participate in and organize events, conferences and meetings to enrich members' experience.
  • Create a space for exchange and collaboration between alumni and current IRD members.
  • Promote alumni career paths and scientific contributions.
  • Strengthen international synergies and professional opportunities between alumni.

Network Values

The network is based on essential values and principles that provide a framework for its operations and exchanges:

  • Respect and benevolence: All users must adopt a courteous and constructive attitude in their interactions. Exchanges are encouraged, but must remain in a spirit of respectful dialogue and mutual listening.
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion: IRD promotes a network accessible to all, regardless of gender, age, ethnic origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation or professional status. Each member is encouraged to contribute to an inclusive environment where everyone can express themselves freely, without fear of discrimination or marginalization.
  • Freedom of expression and respect for opinions: Exchanges on the platform must reflect a diversity of viewpoints and encourage open and constructive debate. Discussions must remain constructive, reasoned and respectful.

Consequently, it is forbidden to incite hatred, violence or any form of discrimination. Any such comments will result in the deletion of the alumni profile concerned. In addition, the person responsible will be liable to prosecution before the competent courts.

  • Integrity and scientific rigor: Any dissemination of false information, plagiarism or unverified data is contrary to the ethics of the network.   • Cooperation and solidarity: Mutual assistance is at the heart of this network: each member is encouraged to share his or her experience, skills and advice, in order to contribute to the professional development of other alumni. The aim is to create a space for mutual support and synergies between all members of the platform.

2. Rules for using the Platform

Registration conditions

Registration and use of Planète IRD+ platform implies acceptance of the present charter. This acceptance is made at the time of account creation by Users.

This is done by simply activating a free member account, subject to validation by the Platform administrators.

To activate an account and participate in the Platform, the User must have a valid e-mail address and date of birth.

He/she undertakes not to use a pseudonym or e-mail address that could infringe the rights of third parties (family name, trademark, etc.), nor to usurp a name, company name or registered trademark.

The User is obliged to keep confidential the individual identifier and password used to connect to his account, and not to communicate them to third parties.

To be on the safe side, IRD advises you to change them regularly.

He is responsible for the security of his account and informs IRD of any suspicious activity.

It reports any incident relating to the security of the platform or data to the following address: planeteirdplus@ird.fr.

By creating an account, users can edit their profile, containing information on their professional situation, field of activity, discipline and career path.

IRD reserves the right to refuse access to the Platform to any person harming the image of the network by providing a justification within a reasonable period of time.

User commitments

Each member of Planète IRD+ plays an essential role in the dynamism and smooth running of the platform. By joining this space, they agree to abide by a set of rules designed to guarantee high-quality exchanges and harmonious collaboration between all users.

The user has editorial control of his profile. He/she must immediately delete any content of which he/she has been notified of the illicit nature.

The content published on the Platform must not infringe the provisions of the laws and regulations in force in France. Any violation is liable to engage the User's personal civil and criminal liability.

In this respect, he or she will take particular care not to publish any content :

  • Injurious or defamatory within the meaning of article 29 of the law of July 29, 1881;
  • Infringing intellectual property rights belonging to third parties;
  • Infringing on the privacy or image of a third party, or on the presumption of innocence within the meaning of articles 9 and 9-1 of the French Civil Code;
  • Likely to constitute direct or indirect illicit advertising;
  • Provoking the commission of offences or glorifying offences within the meaning of article 24 of the law of July 29, 1881;
  • Contesting crimes against humanity and other crimes covered by article 24 bis of the same law.

In addition, it undertakes to respect these principles:

  • Respect other users and adopt a benevolent communication style.
  • Share content that is relevant to IRD's mission.
  • Refrain from any inappropriate publication (false information, plagiarism, hateful, discriminatory or defamatory content, etc.).
  • Not to use the platform for improper commercial purposes (unsolicited advertising, forced canvassing).

 

3. Moderation and content management

A moderation team ensures that this charter is applied.

Any non-compliant content may be removed without notice.

Moderation can take place upon notification or proactively.

Reporting abuse

Any user can report abuse or inappropriate content to the team in charge, by message directly on the platform. Reports are processed within 15 working days.

Sanctions and Measures

In the event of non-compliance with the rules, progressive sanctions may be applied:

  1. Warning (message explaining the offence).
  2. Temporary restriction (suspension of publications and interactions).
  3. Permanent exclusion (account deletion).

Sanctioned users may request a reassessment of their case.

Data Protection and RGPD Compliance

Personal data concerning network members is collected and processed for the operation and animation of Planète IRD+. This includes, for example, first and last names, year of birth, age group and professional e-mail address.
The processing of personal data is based on IRD's legitimate interests,
Any member may, at any time and without cause, terminate his or her membership directly on the Alumni Network Platform.
All members undertake to provide accurate information when registering, and to update this information in the event of any changes. Members may set their privacy preferences at any time in their account settings.

IRD has put in place measures and organization to comply with all requirements linked to regulations on the protection of personal data in accordance with the provisions of the modified French law n°78-17 of January 6, 1978 relating to information technology, files and freedoms and the European regulation n°2016/679 on the protection of personal data.
Only strictly necessary data is collected.
This data may be communicated to IRD departments and staff involved in Planète IRD+ network. In accordance with the RGPD, any member may access the data concerning him or her. If necessary, he or she may ask for the data to be rectified, object for a reason relating to his or her particular situation, or obtain a restriction on the processing of such data.

Data security
The Data Controller undertakes to guarantee the confidentiality and security of the personal data processed. It also ensures that subcontractors are committed to implementing technical and organizational measures to guarantee an appropriate level of security.

 

4. Intellectual property

The IRD declares that it holds the necessary authorizations to make the Platform available to Users under the conditions set out in this charter.

The present terms and conditions of use do not imply any transfer whatsoever of intellectual property rights over the constituent elements and content of the Platform.

However, the member expressly consents, free of charge, to the content posted on the Platform (testimonials, comments, articles, etc.) being reproduced and/or represented in communication media intended for the promotion of the IRD and its alumni network for the entire legal term of protection of said content.

5. Acceptance and updating of the Charter

 

Use of the platform implies acceptance of this charter.

IRD reserves the right to modify this charter as required and in accordance with legal obligations.

Any changes will be notified to members, who may accept or request the deletion of their account.

Conclusion

By creating your account, you acknowledge that you have read and accept these terms and conditions of use in their entirety. You also give your consent to the collection and processing of your personal data as specified in this charter.
