🌐 Launch of the Plateforme de Recherche Internationale en Santé Mondiale France-Brésil (PRISME)

From 1ᵉʳ to October 3, 2025, in Fortaleza, the Plateforme de Recherche Internationale en Santé Mondiale France-Brésil (PRISME) was officially launched at the 31ᵉ Séminaire de coopération scientifique et technique France-Brésil and the 9ᵉ Journée scientifique of the ANRS MIE partner site in Brazil.

Labeled Saison France-Brésil 2025, this platform is the fruit of over twenty years of scientific cooperation between France and Brazil in the field of health. It brings together researchers, clinicians, decision-makers and representatives of civil society to intensify the impact of research on public health policies.

A unifying ambition rooted in the field

PRISME adopts a new approach: going beyond bilateral collaborations to federate institutions active in both countries within a single alliance. The geographical corridor between French Guiana and the state of Amapá is an ideal location for strengthening existing partnerships and tailoring responses to local realities.

Its mission is to :

  • support research and training through joint projects and skills development ;

  • develop solutions applicable to the Brazilian and French populations;

  • support researchers in accessing funding and structuring long-term collaborations.

PRISME is part of a One Health approach, in continuity with existing work on HIV, STIs, hepatitis and tuberculosis, while integrating emerging issues linked to climate change and epidemics.

IRD, a key player in international cooperation

Alongside Inserm, ANRS MIE, Institut Pasteur, Institut Pasteur de Guyane and the French Embassy in Brazil,IRD contributes its expertise and experience in partnership research.

Valérie Verdier, President and CEO of IRD:

"The PRISME model lies at the heart of IRD's partnership strategies in the field of global health. It illustrates the complementarity between French and Brazilian players, in the service of co-constructing solutions for the most vulnerable populations. "

PRISME marks a renewed commitment to putting science at the service of global health, structuring Franco-Brazilian collaborations and reducing health inequalities.
