Horizon Europe: Support for research and scientific mobility
The Horizon Europe framework program is the European Union's main research and innovation funding instrument for the period 2021-2027. With a budget of over €95 billion, it supports scientific excellence, technological innovation and sustainable development in Europe and beyond.
Within this framework, several calls for projects are currently open, notably within the two major pillars of the program:
European Research Council (ERC)
Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)
These schemes represent major opportunities for IRD researchers, teacher-researchers, PhD students and post-doctoral fellows, as well as for academic partners in the South.
1. The ERC program - Supporting cutting-edge research
The European Research Council (ERC ) funds scientific projects of excellence, initiated by experienced researchers or those at the start of their careers. The aim is to enable the emergence of new scientific knowledge, regardless of its immediate applicability.
Calls currently open :
- ERC Starting Grants: for young researchers (2 to 7 years after thesis) wishing to create or consolidate their own research team.
- ERC Consolidator Grants: for researchers with 7 to 12 years' postdoctoral experience.
Application deadline: September 18
This funding enables the creation of an international research team, with budgets of up to 2.5 million euros over 5 years.
2. Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) - Promoting mobility and skills transfer
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie program is dedicated to developing the skills of researchers through international, intersectoral and interdisciplinary mobility.
Calls in progress :
- Postdoctoral Fellowships: for researchers wishing to strengthen their international careers, within the framework of 12 to 24-month projects. Application deadline: September 10
- Doctoral Networks: for institutions wishing to create or strengthen doctoral programs in networks with other European institutions. Application deadline: November 25
- Staff Exchanges: to support staff exchanges between academic and non-academic sectors. Application deadline: October 8
These initiatives are particularly well suited to researchers working with the IRD, especially those involved in South-North dynamics.
